Katie Cox HeadshotOriginally from Fairbanks, Alaska, Katie Cox is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Wild Shore New Music in Homer, AK and Program Manager for Exploring the Metropolis. As an flutist and active contemporary musician, Katie has worked with a number of ensembles and new music collectives such as Transit, Ensemble Signal, Experiments in Opera, Little Opera Theatre of NY, SEM Ensemble, Anti-Social Music, members of eighth blackbird and Bang on a Can All Stars, Numinous Ensemble, Contemporaneous, and 2017 Latin Grammy winners Mariachi Flor de Toloache. She is a member of the NYC ensemble Hotel Elefant, and a member of Corvus, the resident new music ensemble of the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival.

Katie has performed at major venues in New York such as Roulette, the Park Avenue Armory, The Kitchen, Hearst Plaza for Lincoln Center Out of Doors (2014), BRIC Arts Media House, Miller Theatre at Columbia University, Merkin Hall, and Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, Zankel Hall, and Weill Recital Hall. She has worked with leading composers included 2014 Pulitzer Prize winner John Luther Adams, 2015 Guggenheim Fellow Richard Carrick, Conrad Winslow, Anna Clyne, Carlisle Floyd, and Mary Kouyoumdjian. Katie is also a teaching artist for Little Orchestra Society and teaches private lessons at St. Luke’s School in Manhattan. Katie received her Bachelors of Music degree at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and Masters of Music Degree at the Bob Cole Conservatory at California State University, Long beach.
