Exploring the Metropolis at the New Music Bake Sale!

On Sunday, March 13th from 4pm-10pm Exploring the Metropolis held a table at the Seventh Annual New Music Bake Sale at Roulette in Brooklyn!
Bake Sale 1

What is the New Music Bake Sale you ask? Well it is exactly what it sounds like! The New Music Bake Sale is a fundraiser/ networking events for presenters, ensembles, venues, festivals, composers and musicians to gather and sell baked goods, merchandise, and connect. The evening was filled delicious treats (both savory and sweet), beer from the Brooklyn Brewery, and performances every hour including flute and piano duo RighteousGIRLS, singers from the Resonant Bodies Festival, percussionist Mantra Youth Percussion, and band ensemble Threefifty closing the night. In between each performance attendees were free to visit tables, eat, socialize, and drink beer.

Bake Sale 2

This was EtM’s first year having a table at the Bake Sale. We raffled off two free hours of rehearsal space from Bloomingdale School of Music and handed out postcards on our residency programs. The biggest hit at our table were the homemade spinach and cheese bourekas with tabouli salad and tahini sauce! We sold out by the end of the night and some people even came back for a second serving!

Bake Sale 4

It was a great evening and was a wonderful way for us to connect with musicians and composers about our residency programs. I think EtM will be a regular from now on at the New Music Bake Sale!
