Rima at BYCA

On Friday, June 13th, EtM Con Edison Composer-in-Residence, Rima Fand gave a free concert at Brooklyn Youth Chorus Academy as the culmination of her residency. Rima, a Brooklyn-based composer and musician, has a wide and eclectic range of interests and influences – Balkan music, Bulgarian folk, children’s rhymes, the poetry of Garcia Lorca and flamenco dance.  The program was called “Playing on the Edge: Where Traditional Meets Experimental.”

She was joined by vocalists Sarah Alden, Yula Be’eri, David Fand, Daniel Brian Jones, Cybele Kaufmann, Sarah Small, Alice Tolan-Mee and Shelley Thomas, Avi Fox-Rosen on guitar and Isabel Castellvi on cello.
