We Are a Force for Good. Like Batman. Only for Culture.
“It is heartening to see the continual progress that Exploring the Metropolis makes and the cultural force for good it represents in New York City.”
The long-time supporter who wrote this letter offered a dollar-to-dollar match for all funds raised through December 31, 2013 – up to $30,000.
So your donation of $500, $100, $50 – even $10 will be matched one-to-one – and if you’re a new donor, we’ll be one step closer to our goal of 50 new individual donors.
We have set a goal of 50 new individual donors by the end of 2013 –donors to support artists and arts access in New York City!
Exploring the Metropolis (EtM) improves the cultural landscape for performing artists and arts organizations in New York City by resolving their need for affordable workspace and opening up public access to the arts.
We administer the EtM Con Edison Composers Residency that places composers in cultural facilities, culminating in free programs for the public.
We are analyzing performing artists’ needs for suitable, affordable spaces to create, rehearse and perform in Queens – our Queens Workspace Initiative (QWI)– and collaborating with artists, government, business groups, and cultural institutions to enrich the cultural communities in that borough.
We created and developed NYC Performing Arts Spaces that lists available rehearsal and performance spaces in the five boroughs.
You can read about our testimony to the City Council on Affordability for Artists in New York City here.
In February, you can attend the Dance/NYC Mid-Winter Symposium for the first report on the QWI.
Or be the first to hear new works of our 2013-14 EtM Composers-in-Residence in their free programs in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
If you donate before December 31, 2013, your contribution will be matched. Your support will help expand our composers’ residencies, our research programs, and our broader programs that keep New York City – with its performing artists, organizations and audiences – as a worldwide center and destination for arts and culture.
A multi-year pledge will help even more.
