Congratulations to Spaceworks, which opened Spaceworks LIC last week! This new Long Island City rehearsal space will serve performing artists throughout NYC looking for affordable, suitable workspace. The LIC facility has three rehearsal rooms and one music studio. Future Spaceworks projects are being developed in the Brooklyn Public Library’s Red Hook and Williamsburg branches, and a building renovation on Governor’s Island.
EtM is proud to have been in the forefront of workspace issues for performing artists in New York City for decades, whether through the groundbreaking NYC Performing Arts Spaces, our study of workspace needs for mid-career, single-choreographer-led dance companies, or our current Queens Workspace Initiative, which will examine space needs in this growing, dynamic borough. We’re gratified to see that workspace is now a part of any conversation on arts in New York City.
Watch this space for updates on the Queens Workspace Initiative, funded by the David Rockefeller Fund. And congrats again to Spaceworks for the beautiful new facility.
