The Passion of Madame Faust

We received some exciting news from 2011 Composer-in-Residence Demetrius Spaneas. Demetrius and librettist Alexandra Honigsberg have been commissioned by Opera Manhattan Repertory Theatre to compose “The Passion of Madame Faust – A New American Opera.” The premiere of the full production is scheduled for October 2014. And thanks to a grant from our friends at Flushing Town Hall, a vignette of the work-in-progress will be performed there on October 28th. Since Demetrius was our Con Edison Composer-in-Residence at Flushing Town Hall, we’re thrilled to see this relationship continue!

Partial performances will continue every six months until the 2014 premiere. Check out the details of this intriguing new opera on Demetrius’ blog, and visit the project’s Facebook page for upcoming announcements. Having been witness to Demetrius’ immense talents, we can’t wait for the first performance in October!
