Ecstatic Summer

If you haven’t yet made note of New Amsterdam Presents’ Ecstatic Summer Festival, mark your calendars now for June 30, July 14 and August 25! An extension of the famed Ecstatic Music Festival, Ecstatic Summer continues in the same vein, featuring amazing collaborative artists and delightfully diverse programming, all free and open to the public.

Don’t miss tomorrow’s concert which will include New Amsterdam’s Co-Director (and Exploring the Metropolis‘ Board Member) Judd Greenstein and his 14-person band/contemporary music ensemble, The Yehudim. The Yehudim will perform Judd’s Sh’lomo, based on the biblical writings of King Solomon. As in the Ecstatic tradition, The Yehudim will also collaborate with fellow artists Merrill Garbus of the tUnE-yArDs, vocal group Roomful of Teeth and composer William Brittelle.

Ecstatic Summer be held at The World Financial Center Plaza at 7pm. The first two concerts are also part of the wonderful River to River Festival. So bring your picnic blankets, nibbles and stake out a spot early on, as we’re sure the Plaza will be packed!

Stay tuned as we announce the eight winners of our 2012-2013 Con Edison Musicians’ Residency Program next month!
