Danielle and SYZYGY New Music at Church Street School

David Johnston

We can’t wait for 2011 Composer-in-Residence Danielle Eva Schwob’s upcoming program at Church Street School for Music and Art on June 15th! Danielle will perform with her award-winning ensemble, SYZYGY NEW MUSIC, and members of her illustrious band.  We recently had the opportunity to hear Danielle and SYZYGY perform “Shiver” and “Breathing Underwater” at LaGuardia Performing Art Center. Needless to say, we are ardent fans as a result!

As a composer, songwriter, guitarist and singer, Danielle wears many artistic hats. She co-founded SYZYGY NEW MUSIC in 2009 with fellow musician Frank Tyl to work with musicians and composers “who are not afraid to be bold in their creative choices.” A performing ensemble, new music concert series and curating project, SYZYGY is a unique and dynamic organization. Our friends at Sequenza21 described SYZYGY as “one of 2009’s most promising new groups.” And recently, they partnered with NYC-based Panoptic Productions to collaborate on scoring projects. To get a full picture of Danielle and all of her artistic pursuits, check out her interview on our blog.

If you can’t wait until June 15th, we encourage everyone to hear Danielle and SYZYGY this Friday, May 25th, as they partake in The Flea Theater’s Music with a View Festival. See you at Church Street School for Music and Art on June 15th at 7:30pm!
