Happy 2012 … Our Thirtieth Anniversary!
Happy New Year from Exploring the Metropolis! As we plan our 30th anniversary year, we reflect back with joy and gratitude for the privilege of serving NYC’s performing arts community for the past three decades – through our workspace studies, projects, and our newest program, the Con Edison Musicians’ Residency Program.
We begin 2012 with most of our wonderfully gifted 2011 Composers-in-Residence concluding the residency portion of the program. We extend a special thank you to each of our host facilities – Brooklyn Youth Chorus Academy, Flushing Town Hall, Church Street School for Music and Art, and Turtle Bay Music School – for partnering with us and providing our composers with needed workspace.
Going forth, we have several exciting developments. First, all public programs by our Composers-in-Residence are now posted on our Events Calendar. Second, check out our new Today’s Special Guest blog series by previous Composers-in-Residence. Third, stay tuned for details as we partner with LaGuardia Performing Arts Center to present a festival for our composers May 11 and 12. And last but not least, we are in the midst of planning for the 2012-2013 Con Edison Musicians’ Residency Program … with expansions!
We wish each of you a wonderful 2012, and look forward to continuing to share news with you about workspace opportunities, grants and our ongoing programs. Don’t miss out. Sign up for our e-newsletter here.
