2011 Composer Spotlight: Danielle Eva Schwob

2011 Composer-in-Residence Danielle Eva Schwob

From Grace, today’s guest blogger. “Danielle Eva Schwob’s music can be heard in the concert hall, on the pop stage, and everywhere else in between. Hailing from London, Danielle grew up writing music and performing in bands as a singer/songwriter – until she discovered concert music.  Her work now spans both genres and she is particularly drawn to collaborative projects that bridge these two worlds. In 2009, Danielle co-founded Syzgy New Music Collective, an ensemble devoted to curating innovative new concert works by young composers.  (You can check them out on Facebook.)  Currently serving as the Artistic Director, Danielle is active composing, performing and collaborating with an exciting roster of instrumentalists and composers.

This fall, Danielle has an impressive lineup of projects. In addition to her Con Edison Musicians’ Residency at Church Street School for Music and Art, Danielle is gearing up to tour with her band, promoting the release of her debut EP “Overloaded.” And during her Residency at Church Street School, Danielle will continue her musical bridge building by composing new music and by reinterpreting a selection of her rock songs. She plans to culminate the Residency by presenting these new works in a joint performance featuring members of her band.

We can’t wait to hear Danielle’s program at Church Street School. But in the meantime, check out “Overloaded.” And we will be sure to keep you updated on her busy tour schedule this fall…”
