The Grammys and Earl

David Johnston

Earl and friend

The Juilliard String Quartet will get a  Lifetime Achievement Grammy this year, with a formal acknowledgment at the Grammys telecast on Feb. 13.  The Quartet is the first classical ensemble to receive this award, and only the 21st classical artist to be so honored.

What, you may say, does this have to do with us?

Well,  longtime EtM Board and Musicians’ Advisory Group member, Earl Carlyss, was a Quartet member for over 20 years, a period where they made some of their most important recordings.

So congrats to the String Quartet and our warmest congratulations for Earl.
