EtM Rallies for the Arts at City Hall
On Monday, EtM’s Executive Director David Johnston attended a rally at City Hall to speak out against eliminating the National Endowment for the Arts.
“I stopped off and bought posterboard, some markers, ran to the office, made up my signs and then headed down to City Hall Park for the Rally to Save the Arts. This rally, hosted by Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer, was to send a clear and unambiguous message of support: New Yorkers love the National Endowment for the Arts and we don’t want it cut. (We also love the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences. We don’t want those cut either.)
It was beautiful weather and – happily- a long line to go through security to get into the park. It was also great to see fellow colleagues and advocates like Sami Abu Shumays, Ellen Kodadek, Taryn Sacramone, Lynn Lobell and Ann Dennin.”
